Elven Religions

Elves love religion, although few would consider themselves a devout follower of the Shifract faith, Charmouthian Sect, or the non-theistic Ofsiellingianism. Those that do are treated with a respect typically reserved only for the most skilled of Sorcerer and enjoy many perks such as free housing in the best of neighborhoods within the Elven Empires.

Clerics and Paladins of the Shifract faith worship Chiptonter, the Reaper Tree. It is said Clerics can give and take life and Shifractian Paladins swards are somehow sharper than any other mortal blade. Both Paladins and Clerics also boast that they can talk with trees, receiving guidance and even strength in times of need, although if that's true no one can say.

Charmouthian Sect is a strict faith that follows Godasbuton, the Amber Father. His clerics display an uncanny wisdom and are prized counselors by Kings across the realms. Their Paladins are fierce warriors and it is said that they can freeze their enemy like an insect caught in a drop of amber. There are whispers that both Clerics and Paladins of the Charmouthian Sect can see into the minds of men, but this is widely believed to be a myth, although a terrifying one.

While Ofsiellingianism came from Elves and is mostly followed by Elves, it is the one belief in the whole realms that welcomes followers regardless of their Race. Followers of Ofsiellingianism dedicate their lives to it's tenants, which holds Nature in high regard, and aims to do no harm to those who bring no harm. These Monks are not easy prey, though, as their feats of prowess are renown and it is said that true followers can rejuvenate themselves by meditation - not only healing themselves but extending their lives past that of any mortal of any Race.

Background, Culture, History, and Lore of Elves

This page contains in-depth information on Elvish Culture including History, Lore, and specific information on cities and towns within the Elvish Empires.

Not for the faint of heart, this page is intended for those who wish to play and Elf or a halfsie who grew up in Elven realms.

Innately magical, Elves consider themselves the first culture in Estel Úqua and started the Great War in order to prevent the spread of lesser creatures. They posses increased skill with magic, and have long pointed ears. The Elves of Atresria live simply, close to nature and have a way with both plants and animals. The Elves of Bridgehia consider themselves nobles, regardless of their wealth, and demand to be treated as such.  Thathes is an urban land, where elves of all kinds mix and mingle, and they are less likely to hold some of their culture's prejudices here. The Alridlandian Elves' pride is the world renown Sorcerer's Citadel, which lies withing its borders.

Required Prosthetic: Long Elf Ears

Please note that if you wear the popular, shorter, slip on ear you will be considered a “halfsie” in game.

Halfsies

Elfblood Humans

The child of an Elf and a Human, may exhibit either parent's trait (Ms. Hale will determine which via die roll). It is most common for them to be raised among humans, but if raised among Elven kind it is typically as a Monk.

Elfblood Dwarves

The child of an Elf and a Dwarf, though rare, may exhibit either parent's trait (Ms. Hale will determine which via die roll). Shunned among Dwarven kind, it is most common for them to be raised among Humans but, if raised among Elven kind, it is typically as a Monk.

Elfblood Tremlins

The child of an Elf and a Tremlin is the most common half-Elven kind and may exhibit either parent's trait (Ms. Hale will determine which via die roll). They are accepted into either culture, but treated poorly in the Elven realms and pitied in the Tremlin ones.

Elfblood Orcs

The child of an Elf and an Orc may exhibit either parent's trait (Ms. Hale will determine which via die roll). Thought to be an abomination by both cultures they rarely survive birth and are shunned everywhere they go.

Please note, prosthetics for halfsie characters may vary (example: an Elfblood Human may look completely Elvin, completely Human, or have shorter ears). While players may make a request for a specific visible trait, the final call on that lies with the GM. Please be sure to email esteluqua@gmail.com in advance to verify if it's extremely important to you.

When building a character, the culture you choose first on the character registration form will be the one your stats are created from.

Lands

The Empires
  • Once a single Empire that spanned the entire northern portion of the continent, Bridgehia, is what is left of the Ancestral Elven seat. Set in the central North, it is bordered splinter Empires and the bitterly lost Tremlin territory of Foweybi, which took much of it's coastal access with it. While it didn't seem a big deal at the time, as trade between Empires and other countries becomes more important, Bridgehia finds its place as the Center of the Modern World slipping fast. Some hope for a second war. Some fear it. And none can say which way the young and newly minted Emperor Cidacne Azeden will go.

  • On the North Eastern coast lies the Alridlandian Republic, a true republic governed for 120 years by an elected group of leaders from each of their 6 provinces. Every twenty years one Province elects a new representative. Currently Dain Wyndi of Thathing, Tyrael Genleth of Chipseia, Miirphys Aepetor of Cilfordia, Aestelar Xyrsys of Hayceford, Elidyr Preszeiros of Treroe, and Omlid Obosh of Casre fill the seats. While Omlid was just elected nineteen years ago, Dain faces replacement in just one year and many wonder if Dain's replacement will be as thoughtful as Omlid who has brought a sense of relief and hope for the future to the turbulent Republic. Or will things sway back to the infighting and strife that Dane and Thathing always seem embroiled in?

  • The Principality of Thathes in the Northern Central region of Estel Úqua, is ruled by Prince Rolim Azeden, last Prince of the House Azeden. When he took the throne, many hoped he would quickly find a wife and produce heirs, but he was much quicker to take a husband and set that idea to rest. Now, as he grapples with old age and the death of his husband, Azeden seeks an heir. His sorcery, known throughout the Elven empires for it's power, has assured him an heir will reveal itself, and this heir will bring Thates to new glory. One can only hope, because his health fails him more each day.

  • Atresria, which lies in the North West is ruled by Lethonel Carfiel. His people refused to join in the great wars, breaking away from Bridgehia long ago and it was his lineage that first formed alliances with the Dwarves. It is a quiet kingdom, preferring to keep to themselves, but they enjoy a prosperous trade with Human, Elvin, and Dwarven countries and serve as the main point of commerce between Dwarves and Elves. The Ofsielllingian monastery is located here.

Gossip & Lore

Some would say there is no treasure as highly prized by Elves as a juicy morsel of someone else’s business. Below are some particularly popular tidbits of Elvish gossip.

Gossip

Venza Ani doesn’t actually love the man she proposed to, she just wanted to secure her power on the throne in Savia. She's not as pretty as an elf, so she probably had to bribe him to marry her.

Recently Elidyr Preszeiros of Treroe came out with a statement to deface Dain Wyndi of Thathing, saying he had a secret affair three years ago with a younger Tremlin woman and got her pregnant. Now he pays her off to keep quiet, and his wife knows about the letters full of coin.

Elidyr Preszeiros of Treroe was paying off a Tremlin girl he got pregnant in secret letters, to keep the news from reaching his wife.

The recent bad luck in Bridgeheia is due to a sorcerer’s duel. Bemere Perhana and Miirphys Aepetor of the Clifordia province (Alridlandian Republic) are in a deep feud over who is the most powerful sorcerer. <One may include their opinion on who will win the feud.>

The last prince of the House of Azeden refused to produce heirs with a good wife. Instead he took a man as his groom, and now his bloodline and the Principality of Thathes is doomed. He’s far too old to find the heir he seeks for now, and if he does find one, they’ll be dreadfully unprepared.

Prince Rolim Azeden is still trying to find an heir with his husband. The Principality of Thathes should have an Azeden to rule them, not some kid he appoints the title. He’s endangering everything, and he doesn’t even care.

I heard that Prince Rolim is going to take in a dwarf to be his heir, instead of an elf. First he ends the Azeden bloodline, and now disgraces our people?

Myth

A long time ago, before all others lived, the first of the elves lived. They were the most beautiful of all beings. Their ears came to the perfect point, and the air around them seemed to glow due to their magnificence. They were known to be closest with the land, and the first and most powerful sorcerer. We still follow their ways of loving the land, self, and all creatures to this day, and inherited their immense magical power.
