Tremlish Religions
Tremlins enjoy a connection with nature that is, they would say, deeper than that of even the Elves. Still, there are a few religions the occasional Tremlin follows, namely Witherbu Spirit Shamanism and the Uxrid Faith.
Witherbu Spirit Shamanism follows the Grey Lady, who is said to be the connection between the waking world and the spirit or dream world. It is said her Shamans can pass between worlds at will, and are valued as spirit guides among their people.
Those of the Uxrid Faith follow Winkingin, the Unknown Hound. Clerics are said to be able to find locate anything they desire, in this world or the next, and it is said that Paladins of Uxrid, when they face a foe in battle, will not die until their foe is defeated. It's rumored that they chase their foe into the spirit world and continue to battle there but that is, after all, just a myth.
Background, Culture, History, and Lore of Tremlins
This page contains in-depth information on Tremlish Culture including History, Lore, and specific information on cities and towns within the Tremlish Alliances.
Not for the faint of heart, this page is intended for those who wish to play and Tremlin or a halfsie who grew up in Tremlish realms.
Once treated as playthings and pets for the Elves, the Tremlins now have their own lands, thanks to their Orc allies. All Tremlins are fast, light of foot, and have a connection with nature that is far stronger than that of the Elves. Tremlins of Foweybi tend to be timid, afraid of impending return to slavery. They are more frequently Doe-Tipped (deer antlered) than Horn-Topped (goat/sheep horns). The Tremlin of Sarough are by far the rowdier bunch, not afraid to live and be seen. They are more frequently Horn-Topped.
Required Prosthetics: Horns (pick one): Deer, Goat, or Sheep
Halfsies
Elfblood Tremlins
The child of an Elf and a Tremlin is the most common half-Elven kind and may exhibit either parent's trait (Ms. Hale will determine which via die roll). They are accepted into either culture, but treated poorly in the Elven realms and pitied in the Tremlin ones.
Dwarvish Tremlins
The child of Tremlin and a Dwarf is rare, may exhibit either parent's trait (Ms. Hale will determine which via die roll). As Dwarven society has little need for their frequently frail traits, they typically find themselves raised among their Tremlin brethren, although a few merchant ships are rumored to be crewed by Dwarvish Tremlins.
Orcish Tremlins
The child of a Tremlin and an Orc is seen as blessing. They may exhibit either parent's trait (Ms. Hale will determine which via die roll) and are accepted equally into either culture, although most prefer Tremlin lands over Orcish ones.
Please note, prosthetics for halfsie characters may vary (example: an Elfblood Human may look completely Elvin, completely Human, or have shorter ears). While players may make a request for a specific visible trait, the final call on that lies with the GM. Please be sure to email esteluqua@gmail.com in advance to verify if it's extremely important to you.
When building a character, the culture you choose first on the character registration form will be the one your stats are created from.
Lands
The Tremlish Alliances
-
Tremlins never had a kingdom to start, content to stay in their hollows and groves until the Elves brought the great war. With the help of their nomadic warrior friends they held Foweybi, a quiet little country in the central north, bordered on all sides by Elves. While they know that Orcs will answer their call if they're attacked the Foweybi prefer to keep their heads low, and keep to themselves. Still, they do well living off the rich land and fishing the waters on the shoreline. Dwarven and Human ships have taken to stopping along the coast and Foweybians can find the luxuries they need at a cost. Teeb Dresyl, the current elected President, has taken cautious steps towards opening trade with the wider world, fearful that his people are being left behind.

In the East lies the Kingdom of Sarough, carved out for Tremlins by the might of the Orc armies even as their lands the nomads roamed were plundered. Saroughians will never forget their sacrifices and you can find statues and monuments to the Orc and Tremlin braveries during the war in most towns. Sarough is ruled by the Xhada Knights, who ride through the country and scout for trouble. The Knight's current leader is Kyrina Sep and she is much beloved in Sarough, Foweybi, and Knacuria alike.
Songs & Legends
Folk Songs
Young one, young one,
Where did you go?
My hornless goat
How you trouble me so’
Young one, young one,
How do you parry?
For father left you
Back at the prairie,
For a handful of coin
And a bucket of dairy
Young one, young one,
Where did you go?
My hornless goat
How you trouble me so’
Young one, young one
How might you fare?
For Maignead always
Had an eye for flair
Shall I see you in a coat
Warm with his debonair
Shall I see you by the sea
Are you mine to spare
Young one, young one,
Where did you go?
My hornless goat
How you trouble me so’
Young one, young one,
How do you parry?
Young one, young one,
Where did you go?
My hornless goat
How you trouble me so’
Legends
There are stories of a devourer. It lives in the forest, with the skull head of a deer, feasting away at the flesh of the innocent. We call it many names, it’s said to have many faces, the man-eater, the monster that haunts our skin. They say it’ll come for children at night if they eat animals of their kind, or feast on other’s flesh. It’ll come to take them, make them one of it’s own (so eat your vegetables, many mothers will say.)
A long, long time ago, there were no stars to light the sky and stretch long into ‘morrow. Every night as our people hid from the Elves, they would look to the blackened sky and feel empty. A loss of hope had plagued the animals we loved, and one young man stood to right it all. They say Bo had to head into the trees, through the deadly forest, weaving past Elven conquerors until he found the highest mountain by the clearest creek. Bo went through trial a many- he sung to Kelpies in the water, danced under the sun with Wyrms, and escaped a pack of Dire Wolves to make it to his destiny. To save the Tremlins. No one knows what Bo did there that rainy night he arrived- some say he begged to gods unheard of, others say he spilt a drop of blood into the river for every star in the night sky. But we know he collapsed atop the mountain, weary, drained, but alive; his journal turned to its final page to map out the stars, the first sign of hope.
|At the start of the war for freedom from Elves, Tremlins were failing badly, even as orcs swooped in to ally with the fighting Tremlins. It seemed like we were going to lose- when love intervened. A young tremlin, said to have the majestic horns of a deer and the scars of being enslaved, met a young orc woman at a rebel gathering. There are stories of mothers, grandmothers, who stood at the gathering, a celebration of a battle won, whispers of how they’d smiled so brightly at one another. People said they knew, that they looked at each other and knew their destiny was together. Ulda, the Orc General and Meidin, the Tremlin, were able to make a pact. Meidin went back and spied for her lover, and it’s rumored they won over four battles due to their excellent communication, the knowledge Meidin collected, and Ulda’s excellent battle skills. Their work helped Orcs and Tremlins win the war! There are even rumors that they had a secret marriage *during the war* on Elvish territory.
